How to install and maintain the main chandelier in the church
Panikadylo is a central chandelier in an Orthodox church with a large number of lamps or candles.This name came to us from Byzantium, the Greek word πολικάνδηλον translates as "many candles".Panikadilo is lit during holiday and Sunday services.In its rays, icons and church utensils look especially solemn and festive.Due to the majestic symbolism, massiveness and solemnity, church panikadils create an indescribable atmosphere and carry a powerful religious load.
Panikadylo is fixed in the dome of the central altar of the temple building. These lamps have preserved their traditional appearance of a conical chandelier with a mandatory attribute in the decoration - a cross, which distinguishes a panicadillo from an ordinary secular lamp. Panikadilo are single-tiered and multi-tiered complex products with choros at the base of the structure. The word "choros" also came to us from the Greek language: χορός means "round dance". A horos is similar to the rim of a wheel, it is this form of the candlestick that is the oldest. Such a chorus can surround the traditional panicadillo or replace it by itself. Icons, cast images of angels, crosses, etc. are often placed on choirs. In some churches of Greece and other countries there is a wonderful custom of turning the horos during the service. In particular, they do this on the Holy Mount Athos. Panikadylo is made of brass, less often - of bronze and other metals. Some of them are real masterpieces of church art.

A lift for a chandelier is a device that will allow access to the panicadil at any convenient time. The device is mounted on the ceiling or behind the ceiling and lowers the chandelier on a strong steel cable to the required height, and then, following a signal from the remote control, raises it up. The chandelier descends de-energized - it is safe and convenient for its maintenance. The work of the lift is designed for many cycles of descent and ascent. It can be made with an electric or mechanical drive, that is, it can be controlled by a remote control or manually. Models oflight lifts for panikadil have a load capacity from 15 to 5000 kg and are designed for chandeliers of different weights and designs. It is successfully used to mount a multi-level and three-dimensional lamp.

Light-lift with an electric drive for a panikadil in the church of Kolomyia

The light lift for the chandelier in the Temple of Peace, Kyiv
In this project, an electric light-lift was used. The height of the ceiling vault at the place where the chandelier is attached is 45 m, and its weight is 700 kg. The light lift is controlled from the central control panel of all electrical devices of the church. We have developed a special design, which provides for placing the lift with an offset from the axis of the chandelier suspension. In this project, the development of the Paytex company was used - a controller that regulates the work of the lift as a whole, a set working upper position for the lamp and the software of this device, and a fixer for the working height of the chandelier. All work on the design and installation of the lift was carried out at the stage of renovation in the church premises. At the time of their completion, it was possible to fully use the new chandelier.
Light-lift inside the structure of the chandelier in Church of St. John Volodymyr, Bar, Montenegro
The main task for this project was to design and install an electric lift inside the structure of the Panikadil-chandelier itself. The structure of the light-lift had to be small enough to fit in one of the panikadil parts, the so-called chandelier suspension assembly. The Paytex company has developed and installed an electric light-lift, which is controlled by a radio remote control. The electric light-lift, placed in a separate container-structure and placed directly above the upper tier of the chandelier, which is held by four cables around the perimeter. The 600 kg chandelier is a complex three-level structure with many decorative details and a cross, which could be mounted in stages when the chandelier was in the lower position. The use of the Paytex hoist greatly facilitated the installation of the chandelier, which represents cultural, religious and artistic value.
